Integrating vendor and bibliographic utility metadata in Alma import profiles. Christine Dunleavy, Library Operations Manager, University of South Florida Libraries; Eddie Harman, Library Specialist, University of South Florida Libraries.

The Nelson Poynter Memorial Library at the St Petersburg, Florida Campus of the University of South Florida Libraries completed Alma import profiles which integrate GOBI and OCLC WorldShare Collection Manager data to schedule the layering of bibliographic and acquisitions metadata so that much of the standard copy cataloging is ""automated."" Florida Libraries Virtual Campus (FLVC) contracted the integrated library system (ILS), ExLibris' Alma for 40 public, higher education libraries, completing migration in 2021. In the fiscal year ending 2022 much of the work in the ILS for the collection development and technical services unit at St Pete included learning the new ILS, building out the ILS, and assessing how to schedule jobs to facilitate acquisitions and cataloging. (There was some data clean up too!)

In the fiscal year ending 2023, copy cataloging staff and managerial researched, trouble shoot, reached out and were able to build out some simple import profiles that are reliable and consistent. Staff review Alma's import profile reports to manage errors. One refinement that still needs to be made is getting the correct Dewey Decimal classification and, maybe even Nelson Poynter Memorial Library's local, juvenile fiction classification to come in more reliably. While most of the discussion is for print collections, there is one import profile used for ebooks for which the timing of the scheduling of the import profile was the key to getting it to operate optimally. We'll review the history, the process, the steps, and maybe come up with the next step refining the current issues.

Preparing for Fiscal Year Rollover. Carrie Curie, Electronic Access Lead Librarian, PALS; Joseph Holtermann, Collections Librarian, Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Join a shared discussion, introducing the fiscal year rollover process and Alma’s native functionality, as well as external reports developed by a medium-sized academic library. We will look briefly at the hierarchical structure of funds and ledgers. Then, get some tips from an Alma Acquisitions expert that can refresh your memory of this process and the prep work you should do before you get to your new fiscal year. Intended for Alma acquisitions staff seeking an overview of the fiscal year rollover process, staff new to Alma acquisitions, or other areas such as library systems who are seeking an introduction.
