Leveraging Alma-Primo to enable Marrakesh Treaty lending between US and Canadian Libraries: Progress Update. Pascal Calarco, University of Windsor.

ARL and CARL have been working on a pilot to enable lending of accessible texts in a variety of digital formats across international borders. To this end, we have been prototyping with stock Alma and Primo functionality. This session will provide background on the project, what we hope to achieve and functional gap analysis to serving visually disabled and blind patrons in our Libraries.

Acquisitions Tech Services Books and Journals. Anne Campbell & Moriah Guy, GOBI. (Gold Sponsor)

Technical Services are a great way to save time and improve the efficiency of acquisitions workflows. Attend to learn more about the variety of workflows available from GOBI and EBSCO. In addition to an overview of available technical services, GOBI will share tips and tricks to improve the overall setup to production experience and EBSCO will share details pertaining to the Vendor Controlled Subscription Renewal Workflow announced in the May 2022 Alma Release notes.

Behind the scenes: the slow work of Truth and Reconciliation through metadata. Erin Johnson, Western University.

Improving library metadata in Canada can be an act of reconciliation. Changes to how we describe and classify Indigenous Peoples is necessarily slow work, rooted in relationship building and untethered from the deadlines of an academic library. As we begin to reconcile our use of harmful subject headings, we have made small technical changes in Alma and Primo VE to partially hide them from discovery and display and improve the user experience. While these changes are good, they could be better. From using disclaimers to customized display rules and preparing to build new controlled vocabularies, we are following the recommendations of our national association and provincial consortia. This session shares a Canadian perspective of EDI in libraries and how we are engaging in Truth and Reconciliation through metadata work.
