So You Want To Use the API…: An Introduction to Ex Libris APIs and Using Postman.Rebecca Hyams, Borough of Manhattan Community College (CUNY); Tamara Pilko, University of California, Santa Cruz

ExLibris provides a plethora of APIs that allow users of its products to retrieve or interact with their data more directly. Knowing how to work with them can be very powerful, but if you’ve never worked with data via an API before it can be daunting to know where to begin. This session will provide a brief overview of the Developer Network and API Console followed by a demonstration on how to use the Postman platform to work with requests.

Oops, Audit It Again! Tim Siegel, Thomas McNulty, & Amanda Echterling, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Libraries

In 2021, Virginia Commonwealth University Libraries was selected for a routine internal systems audit. If you’ve never encountered this process before, you may have many questions about what is to be expected, and how the tools available within Alma, such as Analytics, can help produce or verify the data that is being requested. This presentation will primarily cover our most recent experience, but also will glance back at other audits, including the pitfalls and limitations we encountered, how we handled it, and what workflow changes we made as a result, so that you can be better prepared for if it ever happens to you.

Rapid ILL, Open Access and Just-in-time Document Delivery: How a university library have streamlined access to articles and improved user experience. Mark Sinclair, Lean Library; Emily Coolidge Toker, Harvard University. (Gold Sponsor)

Over the last year we’ve seen Open Access start to change the way that research is shared, allowing the industry to address the accessibility issues affecting the academic community. How can universities stay committed to an Open Access agenda while also ensuring that their academic community is provided with the resources they need?A university library has implemented Rapid ILL from Ex Libris for article supply and inter-library loan at scale between institutions. Part of their success with this has been through capitalising on their partnership with Lean Library to develop the capabilities of the browser extension, coupling the delivery of alternative Open Access articles with inter-library loan supply via Rapid ILL. Pairing Lean Library with Rapid ILL has been central to their strategy and their preparedness in facing transformative agreements.Lean Library’s integration with Rapid ILL pre-populates the user’s requests with the article metadata – a feature that has improved user experience and service. In this session, we will learn how a university library has implemented this integration between Rapid ILL and Lean Library, and how doing so has played a critical role in the new infrastructure of just-in-time delivery.
