Publishing without perishing: making the most of Alma Publishing. Martin Patrick, Systems Libarian, Georgia Tech Library; Stacie Traill, Discovery and Metadata Systems Lead, University of Minnesota Libraries

Alma publishing profiles are a powerful and flexible way to export metadata and inventory information. This session will demonstrate how publishing profiles play a key role in customizing data to meet a wide variety of project needs. General publishing profiles offer an extensive set of features for customizing output, including: * adding physical or electronic inventory information into bibliographic records for further analysis and transformation; * powerful filtering rules and normalization routines to customize data outputs; * incremental publishing via OAI-PMH for data harvest and processing by external programs. In addition to general features of Alma publishing, we’ll discuss several real-world applications for publishing that we’ve implemented in our libraries, including: * using published data for analysis to support enrichment and remediation projects; * exporting transformed metadata for ingest into a local digital repository; * customized incremental OAI publishing for external partners; * using general publishing for OCLC Datasync.

Simplify Your Batch Cataloging with the Alma to MarcEdit Integration. Tasha Owens, Data Management Consultant, Florida Virtual Campus Library Services (FLVC).

Using Ex Libris’ API you have the capability to integrate your Alma into MarcEdit and access your bibliographic, holdings and authority records within MarcEdit. You can also directly link your individual or batch changes back into your Alma catalog. Utilizing this integration can help take steps out of your batch cataloging workflow. This presentation will explain how to set up and then a quick demonstration of how to use the integration.
